Visiting Students from Zewail City

A group of graduate students from Zewail City for Science and Technology (Egypt's National Project) has been welcomed at CAU and GEOMAR. In the framework of a DAAD funded program, Nady Mahmoud, Ayman Elshibiny, a nd 13 students visited the Institute of Physical Chemistry. Following an overview talk on laser based detection technologies for environmental research applications, a lab tour served as a basis for sharing experiences and for further collaboration. Zewail City is named after its founder Ahmed Zewail who received the 1999 Nobel Prize for his pioneering developments in femtoscience, making possible observations of atomic motions during molecular transformations in femtosecond, a millionth of a billionth of a second.
