Research Group Prof. Dr. G. Friedrichs

Summertime - Symposium Time

September 2010

Fall is quickly approaching, so time for a short review about the group's summer activities. Actually, everyone was very busy presenting our recent research results all over the world! Carsten Fehling talked about cw-CRDS on N2O analysis at the 5th Int. Symp. on Isotopomers in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Johannes Dammeier was not afraid of making the long trip to the 33rd Symp. Int. on Combustion in Beijing (China) to present "hot" NCN chemistry. With Matthias Fischer, for the first time ever, a group member took part in a Marine Biology symposium, i.e., the EMBS in Edinburgh, UK. Matthias showed first results obtained with his new biofilm sensor. And myself, Gernot Friedrichs, I gave an overview about our newest SFG results at the 240th ACS Meeting in Boston, USA. Finally, we had several contributions at our own symposium in Kiel, the 3rd Biannual Symposium Future Ocean. For example, Kristian Laß talked about the fingerprints of the organic nanolayer found at the surface of Baltic seawater samples and thus brought us all back into local realms. Thank you all for your efforts!
